This is a
Catholic faith community full of vigor, vitality, enthusiasm manifested
through spiritual and enjoyable
activities, programs, and participation. Everyone who comes to this faith
community enjoys the warmth and fellowship, the faith and friendship. Being
their Pastor, I have enjoyed this atmosphere throughout the whole time that
I have spent with them. This website is an attempt of our vibrant youth to
communicate the radiant faith and activities of this faith community to the
entire cyber world. NEWS
The Syro Malabar Catholic Mission of
NJ celebrates the anniversary of its inception at Our Lady of Sorrows
Church, Garfield on Sunday May 4, 2008 at the 12:30 PM Mass, followed by
an afternoon of cultural performances. Monsignor Dr. Kuriakose
Bharanikulangara, the counselor of United Nations and permanent
observer of Holy Seal will be the main celebrant and chief guest for the
function. Winners of the aforementioned arts competitions will be
awarded during the celebrations.
First Holy Communion and the
Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered for the children of
Garfield Mission on Saturaday, May 17 at 10:00 AM by Mar Antony
Chirayath, Bishop of Sagar, India. Please come and join in these holy
services and to bless our youth who are receiving these sacraments for
the first time in their lives.
The Marriage Preparation Seminar (
Pre Cana Conference) is scheduled on October 11th and 12th 2008 at Our
Lady of Sorrows Church. The participants will be given certificates
which will be valuable for marriages in USA or in India. Please contact
Fr. Joy for further information.
Father Joseph Palackal celebrates Mass with the Syro Malabar community in Garfield.
Sister Alphonsa Muttathupadathu becomes the first Indian woman to be elevated to sainthood. After being beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1986, incumbent Pope Benedict XVI affirmed her status as a saint on March 1, 2008.
